On a fog-shrouded night off Nantucket, the White Star liner RMS Republic collided with another vessel and sank to the Atlantic seabed. At approximately 270 feet beneath the surface, the wreck has remained a silent witness to one of the most extraordinary maritime stories of the twentieth century. For decades, questions surrounding the Republic’s cargo have fueled research, investigation, and speculation.

The 2027 operation is being planned around remotely operated vehicles, diving systems, excavation equipment, and specialized subsea recovery capabilities.
